Notion for your Business: Basic Training with Keith Eldridge

Objective: The goal of this training session is to introduce participants to Notion and provide them with the basic of how they can start using the platform. The session will focus on the beginner level, covering the basics of Notion and highlighting key features that are often underutilized.

Duration: 60 minutes (40 minute presentation + 20 minutes for Q&A)

Session Outline:

  1. Introduction (5 minutes)
    • Welcome participants and introductions.
    • Briefly explain the training objectives and what participants can expect to learn.
  2. Overview of Notion (15 minutes)
    • Provide an introduction to Notion, explaining what it is and its main features.
    • Discuss the benefits of using Notion for personal and professional organization.
    • Discuss similar apps that you may be using and can consolidate into Notion.
    • Free and Paid versions of Notion
      • Notion AI
  3. Notion Interface (5 minutes)
    • Walk participants through the Notion interface, highlighting key components such as the sidebar, workspace, pages and notifications.
      • The user interface
      • Settings to take note of
        • My Settings
        • Notifications
        • Workspace Settings → Domain
      • Favorites, Teamspaces, Shared and Private
  4. Creating and Organizing Content (15 minutes)
    • Demonstrate how to create pages, databases, and templates in Notion.
    • Show participants how to organize content using
      • Subpages
      • Database properties such as categories, tags and dates.
      • Using Views and Filters for contextual access to your data
  5. Collaborating in Notion (5 minutes)
    • Explain how to share and collaborate on Notion documents with others.
    • Discuss different access permission settings and collaboration features.
  6. Q&A Session (20 minutes)
    • Open the floor for participants to ask questions and seek clarification on any aspect of Notion.
    • Provide helpful answers and encourage discussion among participants.

Note: This lesson plan is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to Notion for beginners to lower intermediate users. For more advanced topics and techniques, we may consider offering a more advanced training session in the future.
